It may be the geek in me or the geek I live with (Rob is a web developer by trade) but for whatever reason… I do love a good website and combining that with my love of folk, I have become a bit of a ‘folk geek’ so you can imagine my excitement when I stumbled across ‘Mainly Norfolk’:

This is a warren lined with folk gold and riddled with little densely filled pockets of knowledge and resources for all folk geeks out there.
So what will you find? Well, here are a few of my favorite pockets:

From Roud to Child, Laws to Lyle, Dylon to Prior and spure and simple passed down traditional songs. This is an incredible index of songs, each filled with information, cover referances and lyric sheets. Gold I tell you! Gold!

An A-Z of featured artists on the website which leaves hardly a stone unturned as it covers hundreds of folk artists and for each one, a list of their releases including track lists and credits! Here’s an example (and, okay, also a cheeky little bit of self promotion :p

A most excellent resource for folk geeks and the like as it lists some of the best books surely only Cecil sharp house itself can boast to beat!
I have only listed my 3 favorite features of this website and believe me there is more… so very much more.
So… Go, lovers of folk and geekery and feed on the wealth of lovely links and knowledgeable notes that make up the wonder that is ‘Mainly Norfolk’.
