This week's #FolkFavourite is ‘Blues & Roots Radio’
An online radio station based in Port Credit, Mississauga, ON, Canada with offices in Australia and the United Kingdom.
It hosts a number of folk shows hand picked from the cream of the folk world and gives them an international platform opening avenues for artists to be heard all over the world and for presenters to reach a much wider audience.
A number of my all time favourite folk shows feature on the station from the independent or local radio shows like The Richard Harris Folk & Blues Show, Folkal Point, Wee Dan’s Hoose, The Secret Garden, Folk Roots Radio and The Readifolk Radio Show right through to folk legends like The Mike Harding Folk Show.
The week come's to a triumphant climax of folkie favourites on a Friday evening with Rick Stewarts ‘s Roots & Fusion, Brian Player’s Acoustic Café, Folkstock’s Daria Kulesh with The F Spot Sessions and finally Neil King’s Along the Tracks! ... What a line up!
Having recently teamed up with FATEA Magazine they also regularly make a point of playing new and emerging artists as well as the well known favourites, it’s a brilliant partnership making excellent use of the FATEA Showcase Sessions and reviews.
The station’s program schedule and website are both bursting with special and regular features such as ‘Album of the Week’, many specialty shows, online chat threads and regular blogspots.
